Proposals for 2009

It was a great season! I’m excited that all the changes we made for last years season worked out well. I also believe there is some room for improvement.

In the next couple of days I would like everyone to weight in these items. .

Auction draft; live at my house or some other location, also available online

 1. $$$, this is directly aimed at increasing the leagues Championship payout at years end and eliminated frivolous player moves (like the ones I make :)

The proposal

  • Raising $ for player moves; raise all player moves for .10 cents to .15
  • The trades would remain at .25 cents.

 2. Change the point scoring; I am a sore loser! After losing to Midnight Moose by 000.33 in week 13 because Bobby Jenks came in and got three outs in a non save situation, I cursed the word innings!

I started reevaluating the 1 point per inning pitcher score and remembered that we added it because we were adjusting offensive points categories to 7 and wanted pitching to remand the same. Also all of the new offensive categories were positive, so we wanted to keep positive points only in pitching as well. It was the only I could think that would work ok then.

So my proposal is that we eliminated innings pitch as a point and add Holds. Starting pitchers could no longer get points for pitching 7 innings while getting shelled and score 7 points all because the team bullpen is taxed and pitcher dude is going to sacrifice his ERA for the team.

To make this move balanced for point scoring, we would have to change and add more pitchers. I address this in the next proposal.

 Innings,

o        Eliminate innings for pitchers

o        Add holds for relief pitchers (in blue shade)

3. Changing the player roster spots options.

Two thoughts here, one was spurn on by the loop hole I left in this year ( that i didn't figure out until playing Slaphappy in week 9 or MidNight Moose in 13) related to UP,SP and RP roster settings.

The flexibility given by allowing up to 8 SP or 3 RP while allowing no UTLY players changed the dynamic of the league somewhat. It allow for teams to step outside the tradition roster limitations and gamble on new unique and untraditional fantasy lineups. The strategy owned is by each manager, allowing them to strategize against his opponents perceived weakness. I liked it; not enough power hitters on your bench, go strong with pitching. I made for equal opportunity league week to week.

Both options have the league expanding to 24 active starts for a week

o        Option 1, a more wide open approach between utility, SP and RP. smaller pitcher limitations and ability to go without Utility player

o        Option 2, a more reserve line up with one player spot shared amongst utility, SP and RP only
